FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes, and many women do. Coming alone can feel like a big step, especially if you’re used to planning things around other people. Most women arrive not knowing anyone. By the first dinner, that tends to matter a lot less than you’d expect.
Of course. Sharing this with someone you love can be lovely. I’d just encourage you both to leave room for your own experience too. You don’t have to do everything together, and some of the best moments happen when you each wander off on your own for a bit. If you’d like to share a room, let me know on your intake form that will be included in your confirmation email.
No. The group circles and workshops are the heart of the retreat, so everyone comes to those. Outside of them, you’ll have plenty of time that’s yours. Many of the other activities are optional, and you’re never expected to be “on” all day. If you’re someone who needs time alone to recharge, you’ll have it, and nobody will think you’re unfriendly for taking it. If your body is asking for a nap instead of the group activity, you can listen to it.
There will be real rest. Most of us already live on a full schedule, and I have no interest in recreating that somewhere prettier. Each day has a rhythm of practice, conversation, good food, and open time to read, walk, nap, take a resort class or sit and do nothing at all.
Most are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. Many are in some kind of transition: kids leaving home, caring for parents, changing careers, menopause, or a growing sense that the way they’ve been living doesn’t quite fit anymore. You don’t need to be in any particular season to come, but you’ll likely find women who understand where you are.
Not at all. If you’ve never stepped on a mat, you’re welcome. If you’ve practiced for twenty years, you’re welcome too. I offer options throughout, and you’re always encouraged to do what feels right in your body that day, including resting. Nobody is watching to see how deep your forward fold is. And the yoga is optional.
Yoga is part of it, but it’s one piece, and it’s always optional. The body is at the center of my work, and there are so many ways back into it: through your senses, time in nature, a spa treatment, a slow walk, or simply noticing what you feel during one of our workshops. This retreat brings together movement, coaching, reflection, and time to actually listen to yourself. We’ll also talk about the everyday things that pull you away from yourself: the guilt after you finally say no, the habit of checking with three people before you make a decision, the exhaustion of holding everything together. My hope is that you leave with something you can actually use on an ordinary Tuesday back home.
Only what you want to. There will be chances to reflect out loud, and many women find it meaningful to be heard by others who get it. You can always pass or keep something to yourself. You decide how much you share.
I’d describe it as grounded. We may include some ritual, seasonal reflection, or archetype work, always connected to real life. If something doesn’t resonate, take what’s useful and leave the rest.
We’ll be at Miraval in the Berkshires. The nearest airport is BDL (Bradley International Airport) in Connecticut, about 75 minutes away. There is a shared shuttle to and from the resort.
Pretty much everything, so you can stop planning once you arrive.
- 4 nights at Miraval Berkshires
- Three farm-to-table meals a day, plus smoothies and snacks
- Two spa services of your choice
- Full spa access, including the pool, sauna, steam room, and hot tubs
- The resort’s included fitness classes and nature trails
- All workshops, yoga, and group experiences with me, plus one or two special group activities
- Airport shuttle from Bradley International (BDL), or validated parking if you drive
- Gratuities (Miraval is a no-tip property, so there’s no tipping math at the end)
Your flight to Bradley International Airport, alcohol, and any extras you decide to add, like more spa services or classes with a fee or gifts from the shop. Between your spa services, the resort classes, and our time together, your days will be full, so you likely won’t feel the need to add anything.
Check-in is at 3pm on Sunday, October 24, but you can use the resort starting at 11am. I’d encourage you to come early, drop your bags, have lunch, and take a class or head to the sauna. Our program wraps up at 11am on Thursday, October 28, and you’re welcome to stay until 5pm for lunch and a last bit of spa time. I want the whole retreat to feel spacious, starting with how you arrive and how you leave.
You’ll share a room with one other woman, with two queen beds and a bathroom just for the two of you. If you’re coming with a friend, you can request to room together. If you’re coming alone, I’ll pair you thoughtfully. I know sharing a room can feel like a stretch, especially if you value your quiet. Most women find it easier than they imagined, and the resort has plenty of spots to lounge outside your room when you want some time to yourself.
You’ll get a welcome email with all the details on March 20, 2027, so you’ll have plenty of time to plan. In general: comfortable clothes to move and lounge in, layers (especially if your internal thermostat has its own opinions these days), sturdy shoes if you plan to walk the trails, a swimsuit (or 2) for the pool and hot tubs, a journal, and any medications you need. Yoga mats are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer it.
Comfortable. Mostly yoga clothes or whatever you like to move and lounge in. Dinners are relaxed. No one needs to dress up, though you’re welcome to if it feels good.
Yes, there’s wifi, and I won’t ask you to hand over your phone. Many of us have people who rely on us, and knowing you can check in can make it easier to settle. Miraval is a device-free resort, so phones and laptops are used only in designated areas (e-readers are fine anywhere). I love this, because it interrupts that knee-jerk reach for your phone that most of us don’t even notice anymore. I’ll invite you to pay attention to how often you reach for it, and to see how it feels to leave it in your room for a while. Beyond that, how connected you stay is up to you.
Meals are seasonal, farm-to-table and mostly locally sourced. We can accommodate different dietary restrictions. Just note your specifics on the intake form included in your confirmation email. If you have a severe allergy, please reach out before registering so I can confirm with the kitchen.
Alcohol isn’t included, but it’s available if you’d like it in the afternoon or with dinner. Mocktails are available too, and like alcohol, they come at an extra cost and are charged directly to your room. Tea, juice, soda, and water are always included.
Yes. A $1000 deposit reserves your spot, and the balance can be split into 2 payments, due on March 20th 2027 and June 21st 2027 respectively.
Because I commit to the venue and plan well in advance, payments are non-refundable. If there’s a waitlist and I can fill your spot, I’ll refund everything except your $1,000 deposit. You’re also always welcome to transfer your spot to another woman. Life happens, and I know many of you are caring for kids, parents, or both, so I recommend travel insurance for some peace of mind if something comes up.
